A ceremony of laying a capsule in the foundation of a new factory Peugeot Citroen Automotive in Uzbekistan has taken place in the Free Economic Zone Jizzakh.
“A state-of-the-art production complex will be built on 45 hectares, and is estimated to manufacture 16,000 cars per year. The plant is designed in cooperation with skilled engineers of the French company in accordance with the Peugeot Citroen standards and requirements,” Uzavtosanoat press service reported.
The plant will be equipped with modern technological lines that will ensure an automated production process and quality control in line with the highest European standards. The construction will be carried out by the local general contractor in the shortest terms under the supervision of the French partners.
The agreement on the establishment of a joint manufacture of light commercial vehicles in full industrial cycle under Peugeot and Citroen brands, intended for carrying passengers and goods, was signed on May 16, 2017, by Uzavtosanoat and the French corporation Peugeot Citroen.
The French side will provide new technologies, latest production processes, and train employees. The plant will function in accordance with modern European requirements for production, quality, procurement, supplies and sales systems management. It is also expected that the joint venture will ensure at least 50% of localization from the first year of production by attracting domestic manufacturers of automotive component parts.
